Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo holds it’s combined 2006-2016 Convocation ceremonies yesterday Saturday 11th November 2017.
The rector of the school, Dr. Usman David Kuti hosted the Executive Gov. Of Benue State and Visitor to the Polytechnic Dr. Samuel Ortom for the celebration.
Speaking at the combined convocation ceremonies, Dr. Kuti listed challenges confronting the institution to include inadequate man power, the need for the accreditation of more courses and lack of portable drinking water and solicited government intervention.
Celebrating Benue indigines for their contributions to humanity, wife of the executive governor of the state, Dr Mrs. Eunice Ortom was conferred with Honorary Fellowship of the institution among others.
While delivering his speech, Governor Samuel Ortom said his administration would constitute a committee to plan the take over of Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo by the federal government.
He restated his administration’s resolve to continue to improve the quality of education in the State, stressing that the closure of illegal schools was a step in that direction.
According to the Governor, substandard education could steal the future of the Benue child, stressing that government grant-aided schools would also be returned to their owners to allow government focus on its secondary schools.
Governor Ortom also directed the Water Resources and Environment Commissioner, Dr. Joseph Utsev, to carry out an assessment of the failed Umabe River Water Works and report to him with the objective of fixing it to address water supply challenges in the Polytechnic and the entire Ugbokolo community.
